A product set up as a recipe is a group of products (and quantities) sometimes referred to as a kit. Recipes products can be predefined or built on demand on a line item. Predefined recipes can be adjusted at the line item level as well. Products set up as a recipes must be non-inventory items (inventory = false). Recipe products can not be entered on a POS.
A predefined recipe would be created on the non-inventory product. When viewing the product, select Recipe tab from the left panel. Then search products and add to the recipe.
As each product is added, you can update the quantity required for the recipe. The unit sell price is the base sale price from the component product and is updateable for the recipe to help calculate the recipe sell price. The cost and sell pricing are totaled at the top of the entry window as you add and update the quantities and unit price. When finished entering product for the recipe, review the Total Price and adjust the base price accordingly.
For a
build on demand recipe, the product would be set up the same by setting
Has Recipe = true, but not adding any products to the recipe. After entering recipe product as a line item, click on the line menu
and select recipe to add products. After entering the recipe products, quantities, and update pricing, verify the Total Price of the recipe product, click on Total Price to update the line item recipe sell price.
Procure Recipe Product Components
If the recipe has non-inventory product that needs to be procured, then check purchase box
beside product component. When creating a purchase order from the work order, selected recipes components will be procured.
